CAN I GET A WITNESS?: Three Plays on Race, Law Enforcement, and the Consequences of State Sanctioned Violence
- Shared screen with speaker view

Good afternoon everyone, welcome to Zoom Theater, my name is Kush Sharma and I am the stage manager for today’s shows. Today we have for you two amazing plays that are written and directed by our very own, Prof. Cliff Odle. For the rest of the show, I want to request you to please make sure that your camera and microphone are turned off at all times. As a suggestion, the best way for you to enjoy today’s performances would be if you turn off “Non-Video” participants. In order to do that, just hover your mouse over anyone’s profile who’s video is turned off and on the top right corner you will see three dots -- if you click on them there will be a drop-down menu from which you can select “hide non-video participants”.Please join us after for a Q&A Sessions with our actors and director led by the playwright himself Cliff Odle. You can choose to submit questions via the chat window or by unmuting your mic.

01:19:28

01:19:30
Shoutout to Dawrin !!!!

01:19:32
What are the logistic of working with the camera and reading scripts?

01:19:38

01:19:57
great job!!!!!!

01:22:31
Amazing job everyone !!!

01:23:06
Thank you Nicollette <3

01:23:39
This question is for Cliff: What personally inspired the dynamic between Brother Real and Lester Rawlings? Do you believe that it is possible to reconcile with the Lester Rawlings in our lives given how politically polarized we have become?

01:23:41
Could members of the cast and the author talk about “negotiating blackness” and questions of racial authenticity? Is that too much?

01:23:53
Amazing, thank you. Especially powerful to see students, faculty, leaders together.

01:24:01
Nothings ever too much!! ^

01:24:02
For Cliff: Curious about the research process that went into developing the second play. Coming from LA during the BLM protests during summer 2020, ACAB was fully connected to the conversations around policing and BLM. I’m just curious what led to the development of this play, the setting, circumstances of a domino game in an interrogation room.. all of it

01:24:27
Yes, I am HERE!!!!

01:25:00

01:25:41
Thank you for the thought-provoking topics presented in the plays. Well done.

01:26:29
Are there any thoughts about cast dynamic regarding a mix of students, faculty and staff being involved in this show process?

01:35:25
omg I just realised it changed Sukanya to Susanna !

01:45:59
I saw the possibilities of Lester Rawlings and Detective Baker having the power to change the Republican Party and police department respectively from within.

01:46:34
The writing was absolutely amazing, so thought-provoking and emotionally captivating. Thank you for these plays, Cliff! And to everyone else, thank you for bringing them to life so beautifully!
